  • WHAT IS SMART SOCKET?

  • Smart Socket is intended for non-billed power metering, monitoring, and control of electric devices in households. It enables the remote measurements of electric power consumption, remote ambient temperature measurement, and remote control of the on-off state of various electrical devices via remote control.

    HOW IT WORKS:

dotA typical Smart Socket system contains one Master Socket (acronym MS), equipped with a GSM/GPRS modem, and several Slave Sockets (acronym SS). The SMS control messages are always sent to/from the MS. The MS then communicates with the requested SS via an RF communication channel. The brand new .out-of-the-box. MS accepts the SMS commands from any incoming phone number. The owner of the MS can define himself as an administrator using a special SMS command. In this case, the MS will not accept commands from other phone numbers. Due to safety reasons, each important administrative SMS commands must be acknowledged by the MS or demand acknowledgement from the user.

    FUNCTIONALITIES:

dotAmbient temperature reading from any MS or SS

dotPower-on, power-off of any electric device connected to defined MS or SS

dotPower-on, power-off status reception of any electric device connected to defined MS or SS

dotMeasurements of electric power consumption of any electric device connected to defined MS or SS

dotDefinition of time delayed (or time defined) power-on, or power-off of any electric device connected to defined MS or SS

dotDefinition of temperature-related power-on, or power-off of any electric device connected to defined MS or SS (thermostatic operation)

dotCombined timer + thermostat operation of the Smart Socket

dotOne MS supporting up to 32 SS

    APPLIANCES:

    dotSmart grids

    dotHousehold

    dotWeekend houses

    dotCottages

    dotCaravanning

    dotMarine

    INSTALATION:

dotIn order to enable Smart Socket system operation SIM card must be inserted into MS using special SIM socket. Before SIM is actually used the PIN authorization must be turned off. This can be done by inserting SIM card into user.s mobile phone and disabling PIN usage by phone software. Once the SIM has been PIN disabled and inserted into MS the following steps are to be performed:

dotThe MS should be plugged into 230V wall mains socket

dotThe GSM LED will blink periodically when MS is connected to the mobile network. MS is now ready to accept user commands via SMS.

dotThe primary means of remote administration, monitoring and control with the user.s mobile phone is via SMS messaging.

dotSmartphone application with the GUI interface to inspect Smart Socket readings, measurements and statuses is available for the following mobile platforms: . iOS (iPhone, iPad)*, . Android*, . Blackberry*.

dotFurthermore, Smart Socket web application is available to monitor the Smart Socket system using the following web browsers: . Microsoft Internet Explorer 8/9, . Mozilla Firefox 5/6,Google Chrome, Safari
